Reflection

Reflect on today's experience. What did you learn, see, hear that you liked. What ideas would you share with others or use in your classroom? You can give props to specific classmates or be general. It's up to you!

  1. I am really impressed with all of my classmates' projects! It has been good for me to see all of the different technologies that are "out there" now, as I have been away from education for the last eight years. :) I am looking forward to playing around with LiveBinder and the Google sites and taking that to my two English classes. I also feel like I can use a lot of this stuff in my role in the guidance office as well. I wish my school would require all of our teachers to take this class!

Best of luck to everyone! This has been a really productive use of my Saturday mornings.

  2. I was impressed by Museum Box. I think that would appeal to students who are visual learners. I also Schoology--I think it's a great interactive tool for the classroom. I might try it with my students next semester.

  3. There were a lot of useful sites presented today. I hope to be able to check these out in more detail over winter break. I am excited to test the waters and see what works best in my classrooms. Everyone did a great job :)

  4. I really liked the PB works website that Sarah presented. It appeared as though it might accommodated all the aspects I would be looking for in a classroom tool. I also like the Google Sites website but I was already familiar with it. Amanda gave a really nice presentation with it and extended my understanding.

  5. I agree w/ Amanda...the Schoology site was pretty nice. I'm amazed at how similar the interface is to Facebook and am surprised Facebook hasn't hasn't threatened legal action (is it possible they're both owned by the same people?).

  6. Dani Grant says...It was great to have access to so much information from the tools that were incorporated in the exploratorium. I appreciate the research that people have done to bring more clarity and ease to using these tools.

  7. Everyone did a great job presenting their information. It's nice to see all of these tools in action. One of my favorites was Weebly. I've used Weebly in the past and I love how easy it is to create a web page. This would be an easy tool to use to allow students to create their own web pages for assignments.

Also, I liked Emily's Smilebox as a way to create scrapbooks for certain characters in a book. The only problem I see with this site is the cost for certain features, but we can always take advantage of what is free!

  8. I really liked all the different information on educational technology that is available if you are willing to search and explore. I enjoyed learning more about live binders, animoto and smilebox. I felt like i gained alot of valuable information from the class.

  9. I like the museum box. Although I am a little hesitant to use it because of the reliability. I also like the Facebook simulated sites like Ainsley's presentation on schoolology and Scott's on edublog. Those are things that will look familiar to the students so they will be ready and excited to use them. Also I like the assignment drop box features. Thank you everyone for such wonderful ideas! I'm going to steal them! HE HE HE ;)

  10. Today's class was awesome! I really liked that other people in the class were able to explore sites that I hadn't. That way I get their feedback as teachers and future teachers; they know what to look for. The facebook-esque sites were fascinating. They would be so much fun to use in the classroom. I also liked the sites that were able to include other webtools and forms of media. I want the tools I use to do more than just hold documents. The LiveBinders would be a great substitute for paper portfolios. Thanks everyone!

  12. I liked everyone's presentation- congrats! I will make mine public so all can see it without any password issues. I was nervous presenting, but I think my site was a good example of what livebinders.com can do. I guess I'm done at UNO now- wish me luck in the real world! Bye y'all!

  13. I thought that all of the presentations were fantastic. It was good to see all of the different types of technology that can be used in the classroom. I liked the convenience of most of the tools and the way they help to make organizing some lessons easier. I learned alot from the different presentations and look forward to trying out some of them.

  14. I really liked everyone's presentation and feel that teachers and students can benefit from all those sites. I am excited to incorporate some them into a classroom.
I really liked what you could do with Stixy, Edmodo and Museum box. I agree with Amanda that museum box would be great for visual learners.

Also, I really liked Steve's LiveBinder where he created a sub-tab for a Animoto page. I feel that incorporating multiple tech tools simultaneously really helps teachers and creates a fun learning environment for students.

  15. Dani grant says...Hi Ms. Grojean. I checked wallwisher.com out a little more. I didn't sign up for it at this point, but they do talk about hooking with Google so the possibility of it being accessible through igoogle is likely.

  16. Great reflections everyone! I'm glad you all found our last class to be beneficial. It is always a very energizing class and I truly look forward to it (mostly because you are all doing the work!). Thank you for becoming "experts" on your sites and sharing your ideas with us all.
I'm still grading and should be done by early next week.

  17. Dani,
Thanks for looking into Wallwisher! I will look into that site more, too. I've used it in the past, but it has been awhile and I'm sure that they have updated it!
